i’m glad to see Shota’s in this episode, although i think her role is going to be completely different than in the book. but what’s new? besides, i hardly remember what she did in the book aside from keep that freak (was his name Samuel?) who used to be a seeker, but because he wasn’t the true seeker, he’d turned into a mutant.
this show is so silly. but i still like it.
this merchant’s son guy reminds me of a young Dean Winters, a little in the face, but mostly in the way he speaks. henceforth, he shall be known as Ryan O’Reilly.
i think i can see where this episode is going. Ryan O’Reilly has an arranged marriage he doesn’t look forward to, Richard envies this guys domesticity. Shota wants to save Richard, so she switches the two for Richard’s own good (well, i know she switches them, it’s in the episode description) to save Richard’s life. ’cause that’s what Shota does. she does what she thinks is for your own good, meanwhile, you don’t like what she does. but generally her intentions are good.
really, this guy has to be related to Dean Winters.
i like Shota as the mysterious old woman. it’s a nice cliche.
damn. Nass is in this. evil evil. nice.
i’m too busy trying to figure out if that merchant son actor is related to Dean Winters that i’m not paying attention to the show. ugh. rewind.
Shota’s getting pissed that her warning has gone unheeded.
nice. she’s shown up to tempt Ryan O’Reilly with the life of the seeker. now when they see him, they think they see Richard, and when they see Richard, they think they see him.
man are they pissed when they think Ryan O’Reilly has Richard’s sword, but it’s really Richard but they see Ryan O’Reilly. watch as hilarity ensues!!!

ok, side note. i looked up the actor who plays Ryan O’Reilly (character’s actual name is Gryff) his name is Jason Smith and he’s from New Zealand. so i’ll attribute his speaking like Dean Winters to be a side effect of imitating an american accent. perhaps he learned american from watching Oz. i’m 10 minutes into this show and i started watching it 30 minutes ago. this is why i never get any shows watched.

haha. Richard don’t wanna marry the girl and he’s run off. this is silly. i can’t wait to see what this Bronwin looks like. i hope she’s ugly. aww. she’s cute. she looks like she doesn’t want to get married either.
so they’re married now. does this count as Richard’s first marriage? in the books there was two or three or four different women who claimed to marry him at various times.
ha. looks like Zed is going to catch on to the fake richard. fake richard knows too much about the old seekers, which was Ryan O’Reilly’s hobby.
ha. richard is handcuffed to this chick till tomorrow. ooo. she doesn’t want to toast Rahl. at least she is anti-D’Haran. Richard is pretending to want to run off and start his wedding night with this chick, ’cause now he thinks he can trust her. so they get to have a touching moment where they learn about each other. in the end they’ll be bestest buddies and she’ll want to marry the real Ryan O’reilly, i bet, because they’ll have so much in common.
now Khalan is going to find out he’s not the real Richard. or not. oh shit. he’s flirting with Khalan. and Khalan is falling for it. ooo. kissy. not. damn.
real Richard and Bronwin are running off. Shota’s henchmen show up to stop them. battle ensues. now chick believes he’s the seeker and she’s all gooey eyes for him. she’s going to help him find his friends.
Zed is picking up on something between Khalan and fake Richard. Zed wants Khalan to tell Richard why they can’t be together.
ooo touching moment inside the crates they’re hiding in. Khalan tells fake Richard about her powers and why they can never be together. fake richard looks contemplative.
meanwhile at the D’Haran camp… Nass arrives to see the excavations at the old city place. they uncover some artifact thingy. damn. then the cave-shortcut Richard and Bronwin were taking leads into the excavations.
the D’Haran guy think richard is Ryan O’Reilly and gives him a key to escape.
meanwhile fake Richard and Khalan infiltrate the camp. oooHHHH. when fake Richard can’t read some mysterious text, Khalan knows he’s a fake because it’s the same writing as the Book of Counted Shadows. nice. Khalan looks not pleased and pulls a knife.
it’s too late to cancel the attack. Nass vs fake Richard. Real Richard arrives in time to save the day/fake Richard. even Bronwin can kick ass. nice.
the ruins are collapsing so they all must escape.
everyone makes up in the end. and they all live to fight another day.
we learn from the mysterious text that only Richard can apparently read that the artifact the D’Harans recovered from the ruins was a box of Orden.
if Richard has read the Book of Counted Shadows, why does he look all perplexed as to what a Box of Orden is? continuity people, please.
nice Shota again with prophesy. Richard will be betrayed by the one in white. i think that’s from the book.

i really like this show. it’s like Wizard’s First Rule covered in chocolate: yummy, but with little substance.
from the credits i see that Shota’s henchman was Samuel. good. i’m sure we’ll see them both again.
i wonder how long they’ll drag out the plot of the first book? not that i’m complaining, just curious. with all the little side quests, and the occasional bit from the book, it could go on for quite some time.
i’m still waiting for Rachael. but it looks like the next episode is Denna. if they’re going to follow the book at all, once Richard is captured by Denna, he’s in the People’s Palace, and after being held there for ages, there’s the whole Boxes of Orden / Book of Counted Shadows / Khalan with her power thing and Richard kills Lord Rahl..
wait. the next episodes are titles Deanna, Puppeteer, Sacrifice, Confession. That looks to me like the end of the book. WHERE WAS RACHAEL AND THE EVIL SPOILED PRINCESS??? they can be in the next episode. i think Richard was at the evil spoiled Princess’ palace with Denna. i think.
the new episode isn’t for a couple of weeks. maybe i’ll take this opportunity to re-read the book.
