Sanctuary - Warriors (etc…)

I generally don’t have much to say about this show. the acting is sub-par, the special effects are laughable and the stories are just entertaining enough for me to have the show on in the background whilst i’m bouncing about online.
but now Joe from Highlander has showed up as Dr Magnus’ father and i can’t contain myself.
please, please let Methos and Duncan appear as her long lost brothers. it will propel this to the top of my favorites for at least a week or two.
acting and special effects aside, this show suffers from a lack of story arc. (that’s what i’ll call it). the premise has great potential, but recurring characters and themes aren’t enough. i want some overall story to care about - something that i’m looking forward to happening. they could have dropped clues in earlier episodes about Magnus’ father - then him appearing would have been a pay off. i would have clapped my hands in delight at something i looked forward to occurring - not clapped my hands because there can be only one, may it be Duncan McLeod, the highlander!!111!! lol!! OMG!!! he said he can play blues harmonica. maybe he’ll open up a blues bar that the immortals, i mean the abnormals, can congregate at.
in a recent episode, the side plot with Ashley’s father was good (this show seems to have daddy issues). but Ashley’s father is just a recurring character - there’s no overall story with him.
it seems like they’re trying to build a story arc with this Cabal (sp) group. Maybe yet they’ll pull off some impressive development with them in this episode. I hope so. Maybe there is an incredibly subtle and nuanced story there that i’ve just been missing because i tend to watch Sanctuary with only half an ear.
Come to think of it, when i look back on some of my favorite genre shows, the first seasons usually didn’t have too much of a big story to follow, at least not so much as later years. (i have to stop comparing shows to DS9 and Battlestar Galactica.)
i can’t tell you what Highlander’s first season was about. … so i just Wiki’d it. …highlander’s first season kicked ass. i may make a seperate post on my nostalgic love for the ole Highlander series after this.
ok. it’s time to finish watching this dumb sanctuary show. let’s see if anything good comes of it. once again, the addition of Duncan and/or Methos would kick this up a notch.
i’m glad they seem to be pursuing the Cabal story arc. i hope they don’t entirely defeat them by the end of the season. the concept makes a good overall nemesis.
I wish they would have named Joe’s character Joe instead of George. he’s Joe. com’mon. and it looks like he’ll be appearing in future episodes. i’ll keep my fingers crossed for Methos and Duncan.
