ah. Denna. for once, a character appears as i imagined. (well for second; Kahlen works.)
they’re talking about Kahlan betraying Richard, as Shota predicted. i shoulda re-read the books.
i know Shota has some sort of anti-Kahlan thing, but I think it doesn’t really culminate until Temple of the Winds… the “She’ll betray him ‘in her blood’” thing. ugh. that scene is still ingrained in my mind, and i read that book over 10 years ago. anyhow, this episode is gonna take me all evening to watch if i keep pausing it to ruminate.
holy shit. they’re making out. and she still hasn’t told him about her power. instead she stalks off without explanation and decides to leave them.
woah. she just said that there are other Confessors in hiding. that is so not canon. all the Confessors are supposed to be dead. (of course it makes more sense that there’s some alive in hiding, but that’s beside the point.)
nice little confrontation between Kahlan and Richard; and she just told him that she has no feelings for him. that may have been the first scene in which i found Richard truly believable. maybe i’m just really getting into this episode.
hell yeah. Mord Sith. how are they gonna G rate this now?
i appreciate the difficulty in explaining the whole Mord Sith thing and how they’re doing in here first with Denna and then with the old man telling Richard bits. i’m actually a little impressed with how they’re doing this. was the old guy in the book?
now for the B plot with Kahlan… what the hell. is Kahlan the Mother Confessor here? or just a run of the mill one? and who is this bitch who confessed a whole village for altruistic reasons? sure.
damn. Denna kicks ass. i did not expect her to live up to expectations.
right now, Denna is explaining to Richard what Kahlan’s powers would do to him. and right now, Denna is my most favoritest character in this damned tv show. Richard is adding everything up and Denna is brainwashing him. i love this show.
this episode is one closer to the book than any other.
except for the Kahlan / other Confessor B plot.
ooooh. scene straight from the book. RIchard just asked Mistress Denna if Constance could train him. she freaks out all pissed and demands to know why he prefers Constance…. and it’s because the Agil hurts her, and he doesn’t want her to hurt because of him. nice. very nice. Denna is visibly touched.
Richard just attacked Kahlan with Denna’s Agil. was that in the book? damnit. i shoulda re-read the book. i don’t think it was in the book. damn damn damn. Kahlan gets her time to speak to Richard, but through a hole in a door. Richard wants her to confess him so that he can withstand Denna; he’d rather be Kahlen’s slave than Denna’s. I’m sure this wasn’t in the book, but i think they’re trying to cover some of Richard’s internal stuff, externally. damn, i wish i was more familiar with the specifics of the book. was Kahlan captured in the book? i think she was in the end.
Richard is ordered to kill Kahlan and cannot do it. his mind seems to wake up and he and Kahlan put up a nice fight. Richard is able to withstand Denna and kill her. looked like the sword did turn white, but it lacked the significance it had in the book.
finally Kahlan admits the truth to Richard, he’s all hurt that he heard it first from Denna. this was a nice Kahlan/Richard scene. when she asks him if he can bury his feelings he says, ‘if there’s one thing i learned from Denna, it’s how to suffer in silence.”
woah. wait. they just revived Denna.

this has been my favorite episode.

omg omg omg. in the previews…
Rachael. i saw Rachael. i’m such a freak. there’s tears in my eyes.
i love this damned stupid show.
i’d forgotten her importance until now. that she was given one of the boxes of orden to carry (by wizard Gellar? of course it’s Zed in the previews). omg i gotta settle down.
i can’t wait until next week.
while Wikipedia-ing Wizards First Rule and Rachael i find out that she re-appears in the Chainfire books which i have sitting on a shelf, but never read. damnit. this is what i should have done on my vacation.
